Born in the UK, Chee's family background resides in China. To date, Chee has written, produced, directed, consulted and advised on a diverse range of international productions from short films, music promos to feature films working alongside some of the industry's most established and respected names. 
Chee studied a BA Hons degree in Film and Video at the Surrey Institute of Art and Design gaining a First Class Hons. In September 1999, Chee founded Intense Productions Ltd., a UK based production company. Its aim to produce diverse, innovative and successful films, combining both established and up and coming talent.
After establishing Intense Productions, Chee was fortunate to secure the support and guidance of acclaimed producers Parminder Vir OBE (former Board director of UK Film Council, Skillset Patron, Adviser to ITV), British producer and former Vice President of 20th Century Fox, Tim Hampton (‘Aliens', ‘Chariots of Fire'), and director Graham Baker (‘Omen: Final Conflict', ‘Alien Nation') all of whom became mentor figures within the industry to Chee and to date continue to provide invaluable guidance.
Chee's credits as producer include the acclaimed and award winning dark Irish comedy ‘Crashing The Wake' (2004), the music promo ‘Young and Foolish' (2005) featuring the vocal talents of the MOBO award winning and multi Grammy nominated Corinne Bailey-Rae; independent sci-fi action film ‘Displaced' (2006) with Ian McKellen (‘X-Men', ‘Lord of The Rings') and released in the US via MTI Video; development on ‘Where Love Reigns' (2005), a period drama set in 1904, revolving around the forbidden love affair between Dr Carl Jung and Sabina Spielrein, working with two time Academy Award winning cinematographer Jack Cardiff BSC OBE (‘Matter of Life and Death', ‘Black Narcissus'), with Academy Award winner Martin Scorsese (‘Raging Bull', ‘Goodfellas') attached as executive producer.
In 2006, Chee wrote, directed and produced the acclaimed British action feature film ‘Underground' revolving around an illegal underground tournament where 12 fighters compete for the prize of £500,000, as writer, director and producer. The cast included Danny John Jules (‘Red Dwarf', ‘Blade II') and Joey Ansah (‘Bourne Ultimatum'), with the stunts and fights arranged by Dave Forman (‘Batman Begins', ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles'). Worldwide rights on ‘Underground' were handled by Park Entertainment (‘Lawnmower Man'). The film was distributed in the US by City Lights Media and Warner/Elektra/Atlantic Corporation (WEA).
In June 2007 Chee started production on his next feature film in Hong Kong on the epic action drama ‘Bodyguard: A New Beginning' as writer, director and producer, working with well known Asian actors Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa (‘Memoirs Of A Geisha', ‘The Last Emperor', ‘Mortal Kombat'), Richard Ng (‘Winners and Sinners', ‘My Lucky Stars') as well as members of the Jackie Chan stunt team for the action choreography. A UK/ Hong Kong Co-Production, the film is due for worldwide release in 2008 with sales handled by Park Entertainment. Oasis Hong Kong Airlines are one of the major sponsors of the production. As well as currently acting as Executive Producer on the British gangster feature, ‘The Grind' (2007), starring Jamie Foreman (‘Nil By Mouth', ‘Oliver Twist', ‘Layer Cake'), Danny John-Jules (‘Blade II', ‘Red Dwarf'), Zoe Tapper (‘Stage Beauty'), Chee is currently developing the feature film drama ‘Dreams' as writer and director with Tim Hampton attached as producer and Parminder Vir OBE as Executive Producer. Also attached are Graham Baker as creative consultant and John Stephenson (‘Five Chldren and It', former Creative director of Jim Henson's Creature Shop) on board as 2nd Unit Director.
Also a keen advocate of new talent, Chee he has launched a series of training schemes through his company, Intense Productions aimed at nurturing and developing talent within the industry. |
